I believe- part 1

Veteran’s Day
November 11, 2010
Almost 2 years after Wendy’s accident, on July 28th of 2009 her husband, my brother, Jason was also killed in a car accident. This second tragedy hit our family like a ton of bricks.
Jason was the type of guy that everyone wanted to hang out with. Everyone wanted to be his friend. He was naturally cool, a bit of a rebel, yet spiritual and active in church. He loved working with the youth and was regularly involved in scouts, cooking for girls camp, and became a mentor to the high school students he taught masonry to.
After Wendy’s death, Jason was devastated. They were sweethearts since high school, and anyone could see they were soul mates. The experience of losing Wendy taught many of us to cherish each moment we have with our loved ones. I made a point to always tell people I love them, because you never know if it will be the last time you talk to them. About an hour before Jason’s car accident he called me to talk about the family get-together we were doing that evening. Our last words were- “I love you, see you soon” to which he replied “love you too, see ya in a bit”. As hard as it’s been to lose my brother I was so close to, it’s been very comforting knowing those were our last words. And I know that he is now with his sweetheart and they are both watching over their precious children and family.
So I guess my point in sharing this story is to help the readers understand how precious life is. Cherish each moment. Tell your family and friends you love them. They love you too and enjoy hearing it. Treat each day as if it’s your last. Live so there’s no regrets. Spend time with your family and friends as if it’s the last day you have with them.
I believe we will be together forever. I believe there are angels and loved ones around us helping and guiding us in our lives. I believe that things happen for a reason. I believe that we can choose to experience the life that we want. I believe that our attitude determines the quality of life we have. I believe that unconditional love is the key to life. I believe that we are all loved beyond our understanding.
This song was sung by my sister at Jason’s funeral- and I love it! Although the music video really hit home with the car accident and I still cry when I see it, it’s still one of my favorite songs.
